Kathleen York (aka Bird York) is an Academy Award-nominated artist singer-songwriter and actor.
After spending years in the indie circuit, York achieved global recognition with her song "In the Deep", which appears on her album Wicked Little High and was written for the 2004 film Crash. "In the Deep" debuted at #64 on the Billboard chart and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Song. On March 5, 2006, York performed the song live at the 78th Academy Awards.
Her songs have also appeared in The Black Donnelys, Nip/Tuck, CSI: NY, House, In Justice and Everwood, as well as many other film and television projects including all the songs for the 2001 season of the Paul Haggis CBS series Family Law.
As an actress, York has starred in numerous film and television projects. York starred as Naomi Judd in Love Can Build a Bridge, a four hour NBC miniseries about the country singer's life. In addition, she recurred in all seven seasons of the The West Wing as Andrea Wyatt. Other credits include films with Tom Waits, Northern Lights (with Diane Keaton), Crash, Curb Your Enthusiasm and starring roles in indie films Sister Island, The Big Day, Footsteps and most recently in the 2007 Warner release Sublime opposite Tom Cavanagh. She also wrote and performed three of the film's songs. Her new cd is expected out early next year.

Wow this is really good, I was listening to this before you'd redone the write up on it, I thought i recognized her voice from The Black Donnellys (a to soon canceled favorite of mine), this is really a great listen, much better then I was exspecting honestly.
