10 Tracks with: Inkubus Sukkubus

BC's Comments:

Working in the field of entertainment review as I do for a "dayjob" I came acrossed an interesting theroy which I put to the test afew years ago, that you can make someone a fan or a hater of a group or singer with in no more then 10 songs by those in question. It is with that, I introduce you to Inkubus Sukkubus.

Inkubus Sukkubus is what they call "Pagan Rock", a strange mix of Gothic, Darkwave, and afew other genres of rock that are out there. I many times link them to bands like Nightwish and Theatre of Tragity, but with less "flash" then the formentioned, and less focus put on the equily as hot female lead singer, they are also more downtoned then the other two as well, meaning they rock just as hard, but the amps aren't turned up on the recordings so loud sometimes your head splits, its a very nice very melodic at times with a very nice undercurrent of harsh rock.

Inkubus Sukkubus are:

Candia Ridley: The songwriter and the lead vocals. She tends to write songs that are very meaningfull but also deeply based in wiccian and pagan beliefs. Most of her songs also tell a story that is well explained and writen out with a very intelligent style, no forced rymes at all, I like that. She sometimes has this odd way of looking like Cher, but with out that whole "trainwreak from all the surgery" look.

Tony McKormack: Tony is lead guitar and producer, he also does some of the song writing, he's a former member of bands Screaming Dead and Vampire Division. Tony does alot of work for the band, its very evident in the album liners and he also fits the whole "pegan guy" look, as well as looking like a german new wave singer.

Adam Henderson: Adam plays bass guitar and fills the token metrosexual male role for the band, it is after all a requirement for bands in rock of any sort to have atleast one these days. Adam is very serious about his guitar I understand, always something you want in a bassplayer.

Afew of the stand outs that i've included are their covers, they do some really out of place covers that are just incredable. Completely reworking Cher's "Gypsies, Tramps and Theives" where all thats the same of the song is the first two lines of the chorus and nothing else, and Kylie Minogue's "Can't Get You Out Of My Head" among others. The rest are just various examples of their intelligant mystic rock style. So, have a listen, if you like them they've got 11 albums out to date, not so sure how reality available they are though, so you might need some digging. I would say thought this isn't for anyone that is not clear on what a pagan is. They speak of everything from the bible to witchcraft to wicca to paganistic beliefs and all things in between, so I guess maybe if nothing else it could educate afew. so look at them with an open mind.
